Duncraig SHS

Barpa Construction Services recently hosted a smoking ceremony to celebrate starting on site for the refurbishments works at the Duncraig Senior High School food technology studios and associated preparations areas for our new client The Government of Western Australia Department of Finance.

A smoking ceremony is an aboriginal custom which cleanses an area and wards off bad spirits to make pathway for a brighter future and in turn a successful project, this was conducted by Nyoongar Elder  Walter McGuire, Director at GoCultural.

Over the next 6 months, The school’s two Home Economics rooms will be completely gutted and refurbished with new staff office, preparation areas and storage to also be built.

The ceremony was attended by Barpa staff and the following key stakeholders Peter Lillywhite the Principle of Duncraig SHS and also Justine Avenell representing the school as well as Paterson Group Architects the architects Greg Paterson and Chris Donovan.
