Barpa Partners with the Stars Foundation
August 3, 2022
As a strong advocate for diversity in construction, Barpa Construction Services is proud to have an Industry leading 20% female workforce. With an Industry wide average of 12% more work needs to be done. Hence Barpa is very proud to announce our partnership with the Stars Foundation - Australia.
The Stars Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 2015, that provides full time, in-school mentoring and engagement programs to First Nations young women in 37 secondary schools across Australia. Their holistic program supports Indigenous girls and young women to attend and remain engaged at school, complete Year 12 and move into work or further study.
We had the pleasure of hosting the Star Foundation’s CEO Andrea Goddard on Friday who along with Barpa’s Indigenous Co-ordinator Jordan Falla and New Business Manager Jeremy Clark took part in an official signing ceremony.
The Partnership brings together two like-minded organisations and supports Barpa’s mission to “Empower Indigenous People and Businesses through building Australian Infrastructure”
Barpa looks forward to supporting the Stars work by;
- Helping increase the understanding of the roles and opportunities in the commercial construction industry for prospective females.
- Participating in Stars foundation activities and events such as, classroom visits, workplace visits and as guest speakers at employment forums and other major events; and
- Providing opportunities for Stars participants to interact with new people, places and situations via Barpa project sites and classroom visits. Giving the students an opportunity to build their confidence and social skills.
