Delivering Modern Amenities for Queensland Schools

Barpa is proud to have recently completed two important education infrastructure projects for the Queensland Department of Education, delivered in collaboration with ASPECT Project Management. The projects at Clifton State High School and Millmerran State School demonstrate Barpa’s capability to deliver inclusive, high-quality facilities that support regional school communities.

Across Queensland, many regional schools rely on ageing facilities that no longer meet contemporary accessibility or functionality standards. Delivering upgrades in these environments requires more than construction expertise—it demands careful planning, resilience in challenging conditions, and an understanding of how schools operate day to day. Barpa brings this experience to every education project, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption, even in remote locations and under demanding weather conditions.

At Clifton State High School, Barpa demolished outdated amenities to deliver a modern, fully accessible amenities block designed to improve daily use for students, staff and visitors. The upgrade includes a Changing Places facility to support people with disabilities, a new covered walkway, and improved pedestrian connections to enhance safety and accessibility across the campus.

At Millmerran State School, Barpa constructed a new, state-of-the-art amenities block catering for both students and staff, along with new walkways and footpaths and the relocation of the on-site dental van, ensuring essential health services continued without interruption.

Despite significant wet weather and the logistical complexities of working in regional locations, both projects were completed ahead of schedule, reinforcing Barpa’s reputation as a trusted partner for the delivery of education infrastructure across Australia. As an Indigenous-owned construction company, Barpa’s focus extends beyond physical infrastructure.

We are committed to creating inclusive spaces that strengthen communities and deliver lasting social and economic outcomes. Across the Clifton and Millmerran projects, Barpa achieved a 6% Indigenous participation spend, supporting Indigenous businesses and contributing to meaningful opportunities within the communities in which we work.
