Barpa successfully completed a highly specialised industrial installation for Belle Banne Conveyors at its operational facility in Dandenong, Victoria.
The project involved the assembly and installation of a rubber conveyor belt extrusion line procured from an overseas manufacturer. The extruder had been assembled and trialled overseas before being dismantled, shipped to Melbourne and reassembled on site.
With limited drawings and technical information available, Barpa provided supervision, skilled labour, plant and coordination to safely complete the installation within strict tolerances and precision guidelines.
A major milestone was the installation of the 38-tonne Calender Unit, requiring a highly planned dual lift using a 55-tonne remote-controlled electric Franna crane. The unit was rotated, moved approximately 20 metres through the live facility and positioned into a 1.2 metre-deep pit, secured to hold-down bolts with a tolerance of +/- 1mm.
All works were completed within Belle Banne’s fully operational facility, requiring careful staging, communication and coordination to ensure factory operations continued safely.
The project was completed without incident and to a high standard, receiving positive feedback from both Belle Banne and its external commissioning agents.
This project demonstrates Barpa’s capability to deliver technically complex, high-risk works in live industrial environments where safety, precision and coordination are critical.
