Barpa successfully completed the LAND8116 Phase 1 infrastructure project at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, Queensland, delivering a range of new facilities and upgrades to support future operational and training requirements.
Delivered within a live Defence environment, the project required detailed planning, close stakeholder collaboration and careful coordination to ensure construction activities were undertaken safely while minimising disruption to ongoing base operations.
The scope of works included the construction of a new maintenance workshop, secure storage facility, vehicle shelters, refuelling and charging infrastructure, adaptive reuse of existing buildings for training and operational purposes, and civil works including pavement upgrades and road improvements to enhance site access and connectivity.
Throughout delivery, Barpa maintained a strong focus on safety, quality and programme certainty, working collaboratively with the client, consultants and project partners to achieve a successful outcome; and in keeping with our purpose, our team achieved an Indigenous Supply chain spend of 23% on this project
The successful completion of this project further demonstrates Barpa’s capability to deliver complex construction and infrastructure projects within secure, operational environments.
Drawing on extensive Defence sector experience, our team continues to provide high-quality, fit-for-purpose facilities that meet the unique requirements of our clients while delivering lasting value.
