Barpa Appointed to Deliver New Bourke Integrated Primary Health Care Centre

Barpa Construction Services has been appointed by Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS) to deliver the new Bourke Integrated Primary Health Care Centre in remote New South Wales.

The landmark project will provide a purpose-built health facility that brings all BACHS services together under one roof, supporting improved health outcomes for the Bourke community for generations to come.

The appointment follows a long collaborative journey that began during the tender process in mid-2025. Working closely with BACHS through a Value Engineering phase, Barpa assisted in identifying innovative design and construction solutions that reduced overall project costs by approximately 40% while maintaining the project vision and operational outcomes.

The new Centre will feature consultation rooms with tele-health capabilities, a modern patient waiting area, dedicated staff and administrative spaces, and culturally appropriate, accessible environments designed to support the needs of the local community. Delivered under a Design and Construct model over the next 12 months, the project will incorporate modular components and majority timber construction methodologies to support efficient delivery in a remote regional location.

BACHS Chief Executive Officer Jay Forrester said the project represented a significant milestone for the organisation and community.
This marks a proud and historic milestone for BACHS and the Bourke community. The new facility provides a modern, purpose-built environment designed to support the health and wellbeing of our community” Mr Forrester said.

Barpa General Manager Ben Hardy said the project strongly aligned with Barpa’s purpose and values and continued Barpa’s growing health capability across regional New South Wales.
Barpa is honoured to be appointed to deliver this important project for the Bourke community. We share BACHS’s commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and we look forward to delivering a facility the community can be proud of,” Mr Hardy said.

The appointment also reflects the strong reputation Barpa has established through the successful delivery of regional health projects across New South Wales, including the Broken Hill Hospital Redevelopment.

Established in 1987, Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service is the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service for the Bourke region, providing culturally appropriate primary health care, allied health and population health services to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
